Realistic TRC-55 23ch base with clock

This was one of the fancier base radios offered by Radio Shack back in the 70s - Does not have a bunch of potential as it has a 6watt final and an AMC circuit that clips it to about 65% modulation - DO NOT clip D15 an D16 as stated on on the internet - This will result in extreme over modulation - However , If you locate D16 near the center of the PC board - Lift the leg running over near C83 , then install a 470 ohm resistor in series with D16 back into the PC board - This will get you 85-100% modulation - These sound real deep toned almost to the point of muffled - That said a "Tinny " microphone like a D-104 works well as long as you don't overdrive it too much

I had to revisit this modification as some operators told me it was sort of muffled - So, I returned D16 to normal an tried an alternate method - Sams CB-83 shows R97 under the push button PC Board as an 1800 ohm - Drop this to about half that ( 860 ohm ) then in the feedback loop of the AMC change R95 330 ohm to 4.7 ohm - This will give about 75/85 % and still remain clean
