Howdy yall fluffy bunny from fort worth texas here. New to this place and overall pretty new to this hobby so please do not be afraid to tell me what he obvious. I am still learning every day. Thinking about an at6666 for either my personal pickup 2003 Toyota tundra or a base station. I know the 1310s it has in it burn up almost every time so thinking about a palomar max mod and some irf520s. Any more Ideas ? Thanks yall 7sn3s!!

I bought one some time ago, here is a couple of links to the posts on the forum,

I have read of the problems with them but the only problem I had was my antenna caused the radio to cut out, replacing the coax repaired the problem.
I am SSB mainly so the Palomar regulator might be something I do later and the capacitor replacement too. With this radio you need the correct antenna system, the SWR needs to stay under 1.5:1 for best performance when moving, checking this on my pickup it was going over 1.62:1, I set the SWR warning at 2:1, it seems to keep the finals happy. The only other thing I did was dropped the AM power to 10w max DK (SSB still peaks 60w), it still swings to 50 when modulating and sounds very loud using the original microphone.

The main reason I bought it was because of it's size. I have a Jeep Wrangler and a large radio just doesn't seem to fit anywhere. I crafted a mount using the dash tray pocket and it sits nicely above the radio/nav system. Now my only problem is getting the wife to let me install it there.

Yeah it is really small I think it's about as small as the stryker 447hpc2. I want it because of the way it is supposed to run sideband. I have heard many good things about its recieve. I dont have much of anything that should add noise in my tundra. I would assume I would hear much better with it in my garage.

Does anyone have the service manual or the adjustments for this?
I have the main adjustments of course but i need the adjustments for usb and lsb to set the frequency
one of my 6666 is off a bit on lsb
( yes i can set the clarifier to Rt and tune to a known source but id rather set lsb on the way it should be

I have a 8 digit counter on my bench I have 2 anytome 6666 yes they are both doing as you stated using the clarifier to about 1 o'clock
this is normal for them..

BUT when I transmit on the second one and even check it on the 8 digit counter it is off over 1 kc on lsb

the remedy? sure put in the menu on FIN to RT so it will slide me to a known good on frequency person

I want it like the old way like yours
where I can set it to FIN R only
and keep it to 1 o'clock to do so I need to adjust sideband back on frequency
I can not find a service manual for this radio anywhere hence why I asked here and a few other forums

funny everyone wants an open clarifier and that is the setting to remedy this ( set FIN to RT) but I do not, I like my radios to be dead on and just tune a station without moving my frequency...
I hear tell somewhere out there in yonderland a few people do have the service manual with these magic settings but that information does not flow to the average user too often

When I bought mine it was one of the first batches out, other than the AM wattage turned way high it was right on the money, clarifier was at 12 o'clock. I run it on "RT" as with all my radios (even the ones that had a locked transmit).
A tech with the equipment should be able to align the clarifier for you. I do recommend turning the AM watts down as it will save the radio in the long run. Another thing I've been reading is these radios don't seem to like switching power supplies or at least the cheap versions of them (cap mod I've read solves this), I haven't run into this problem with mine since it is strictly mobile.
