P5-P6 Channel Mod Question
I am running a Galaxy DX959, and it has the P5-P6 channel mod. Just as one would consider CH 19 AM as a frequented channel or CH 38 the go to channel for SSB, is there a certain frequency in the P5-P6 mod that would be popular to find conversation on frequently? I would like to explore this mod more. Are there any other suggestions or tips for making use of this mod?

Re: P5-P6 Channel Mod Question
I hope you did the clarifier mod as well, it will give you 1.2kc of slide, Galaxy's are a drifty lot and this mod will help you stay on frequency. The 10kc mod isn't really necessary but a fun mod to do, it will let you pick up the skipped channels around the dial.
A couple popular channels freebanding are 26.915AM, usually an older crowd there, on 27.555USB, this is a calling frequency, and a few go on 27.415 thru 27.465LSB just to get away from the crowded channels. When propagation is running all the frequencies are busy. You are going to find or hear stations saying go to the zero frequency's ie; 27.370, your radio can be modded to go there but it makes the clarifier very touchy.

Re: P5-P6 Channel Mod Question
Greg, Thanks much for the response. I want to do the clarifier mod, but I will have to get someone else to do it as I'm not a good solderer. I have the instructions from cb tricks. I'll be sure to check out the frequencies you listed. Thanks again!

Re: P5-P6 Channel Mod Question
I have a DX959 myself, did all the mods from CB Tricks. Here is a pic of my control box. And like MDY said, the 10kc mod is not really necessary. And it can surely freak some people out. So if you do that one, take your time. You don't get a second chance.

Re: P5-P6 Channel Mod Question
Nice. I'd like to do the clarifier mod, but i don't have the confidence in my soldering to do it myself. Someday. I like my radio too much to brick it. Thanks for the response!
