Radio hook up

#40142

Post by muthatrucker530 »

As of now I am running my radio off a plug in lighter adapter. It works rather well. I have no noise or unwanted sounds when I run other things. Air conditioning, heat, power window ya know. I was wondering, with the 4600 on the way. Should I shi* can the lighter plug and run from the battery? Will this make a power difference? Any suggestion's. I have hook-ups on my battery from a amp I had on the car b4. Can I use that? The ground went to a bolt in the inside of the car. Under the dash. The hot wire to the connector on the battery.

I'm gona assume you are talking about the Connex 4600 turbo. The wiring going to the cig lighter will not supply enough power for that radio and might just burn up the wiring. Run power from the battery with a fuse close to the battery. Look up the radio hook up section of the introduction to radios area, it will help a lot. Also look at the grounding section. I have a 4600 and have found out the hard way to do it right.

YEAH MUTHATRUCKER IF I'M MISTAKEN THE CONNEX 4600 TURBO HAS A FAN IN IT THEREFORE YOU WILL NEED TO RUN YOUR WIRING TO THE BATTERY TO GIVE IT ENOUGH JUICE TO RUN THAT FAN NOT TO MENTION THE RADIO ITSELF!! LET ME KNOW HOW THE RADIO SOUNDS I'M DEBATING ON ONE MYSELF!
