#39427

Post by BigBubbaBD »

Had a suggestion saying that the Top Gun Modulator and Top Gun Speech Compressor really made there radio talk.. and talk loud and clear.

Just looking for some more opinions on this. Already have an email out to a dealer about a radio but forgot to ask about this so Ill ask here first and ask them next time in email or phone.

Thankx

I know a fella that has the Magnum S9 withe the top gun stuff in it...I'm not impressed. I've heard the tight sound of speech compressors, and I would rather have the natural "swing" sound.

I see that you have a SWP Connex. Are you thinking that you can do better than that?

I've seen one on a scope. looks like crap. Never had one but most people that have find when they turn them on they sound distorted.

Yep,

I've seen alot of Magnum S-9's go up for sale, and they are fairly new...while these are hard to find used General Lee / Washington, Galaxy 99V, 66V, all Connex...etc.

i'm not a big fan of the digitly compressed audio when the whole prosess is all anolog. i also hate the top gun modulators, when running an amp and you have the compressor on it saturates the trasistor in the amp and the audio sounds like compleate garbage. in my opinion there not worth the money just get yourself a good mic.

I use a digital effects processor every time while transmitting and I run all of my gear through it. Then it is amplified out through my Dave Made. The compression mode is a constant. I can stack only two effects at a time but the comp is a constant. It will really punch you through. I installed a Sparktune from Sparky's in an older Grant XL and got great output. Had to turn the mic gain down as it was being processed but man, it was nice. Dead key about 1 and swinging to where? I am not sure. Drove the heck out of my old mobile amp. You just got to shop around for one that works for ya.
