Can someone give me instructions on the modification regarding removing the 12au7 tube and going from the 12ax7 straight to the 6bq5? I have seen this detail for the mark 4 but I have not been able to find any detailed instructions on the exact procedure for the Mark III. Thank you

First let me say unmodded radios like your Browning are worth far more than a modded one. My guess is you want to eliminate the 12AU7 tube because it is a audio clipper. The mark III and Mark IV aren't very different so the mod for the Mark IV will work. If you plan to direct inject modulation, that is another mod.

I just want to get a little more audio out of it. Because it is sounding slightly anemic. (And no, I do not want cobra 29 clipped to the max, swing kit, super wack pack **oops** audio LOL)

It may just need the caps refreshed. I had always got good reports using a Turner +3 desk mic when I had a Mark III.
Look at some of member "Night Crawler" posts, think he had a mod for the radio on the forum. He was very knowledgeable on tube radios.

Besides the electrolytic, should the regular disk capacitors be refreshed as well? Do those go bad?

In my opinion disc capacitors don't normally go bad as most are used to filter signal (noise) more than voltage. Looks would be my way to determine, then I check it to see if it is still in spec.
