How many hours ?

This may sound stupid but is it OK to have your radio on for long periods of time? Will it cause the life of the radio to be shortened? I work 12 to 14 hours a day and my radio is always on.

THERE ARE NO STUPID QUESTIONS HERE. TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION I WOULD HAVE TO SAY NO IT WILL NOT HURT THE RADIO, NOW THAT BEING SAID IF YOU WERE TO TALK CONSTANTLY FOR THAT LONG OF A PERIOD (WHICH WOULD PROBABLY BE A WORLD RECORD!ha!ha!) THEN THAT MAY BE A PROBLEM BUT NO.

No doubt about that! I know I've asked some myself. But, they have all been answered!

Thanks, I wasn't sure and no I don't talk anywhere near that much. But if I'm in my truck I have to have it on. Its getting to the point where I about to bring my Uniden Grant in the house and try to make some kind of base unit out of it.

Same here. If I'm out driving, the cb is on. I can't remember the last time I've actually listenend to an actual radio station. I should pull out the radio and replace it with my General Lee! Now that's an idea!

Yeah, since I'm laid up with a broke leg and haven't been in the big truck for two weeks and will be aleast six more, I really wish I had already set up a base so I would have more to do then just lay around on the couch or surf the net.

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.
