Peak and Tune Uniden 520Pro
Is it worth the extra $35
Looking to slightly upgrade up from my midland 75-822.
I see on Walcott radio a Uniden 520 for $59.00 and peak and tune offered for an extra $35. I’ve read some threads and internet articles on subject. Lots of mixed thoughts.
Wondering if those who had it done find it a useful radio upgrade?

new out of the box, i would leave it alone.
i had one, it was not new, messed with it but it never was a big talker.
i would spend the money elsewhere

Yah, could use it towards a better antenna. Since the little Wilson is still driving me nuts even after buying a new whip and trying again, SWR sucks.
Not to mention is voids MFG warranty.

Is there the worry or over modulation with peak and tune.

Not worth $35 for the tune, the receiving station wouldn't tell the difference in a watt or two.

Nope. I would save your money for a real nice radio later.
