Footwarmer amp
I have got back to working on the old footwarmer amp it used 2 30KD6's it does not say hygain any where on it. It does have a transformer.
Issue is it works fine but some times it sticks keyed and you have to turn it off before tubes melt down.
I remember an issue with tube amps that self oscillated that latched the relay shut but do not remember the cause or cure. Or for some reason the rf sniffer circuit is picking up stay rf after you unkey radio some how.

Captain Obvious here. Make sure your coax connection are correct. A little bird told me one time that if they backwards the amp will stay keyed and not work for some reason. Keep in mind I would never do that and it was this evil little bird all the time.

Coax is hooked up the right way. I wish it was that simple.

Re: Footwarmer amp
I don't think HyGain used 30KD6 tubes in any of their amps, all were 6V (6***), and they were known as "Afterburner's". Throw some pics on the topic so we can see what it looks like.

Re: Footwarmer amp
Nice and clean inside but I sure it's not HyGain, kind of resembles a "Firebird".

Re: Footwarmer amp
Got dusty sitting on shelf. No other name on it but what you see good sounding amp but that sticking tx has to go. Seems to only stick some times with modulation if you dead key it don't stick. Not sure what the two trimmer inside are for one seems to be meter scale adjust not sure on other one both are near the relays.
Maybe neutralisation is a factor.

Re: Footwarmer amp
The "Search" is working again and there are some posts on a "Footwarmer", some might be like yours. I remember one talking about no transformer.

Re: Footwarmer amp
Might be the parasitics are in parallel to each other might need to be horizontal and one vertical in order to keep it from staying keyed up. I am still needing the schematics for mine without a transfomer or brige rectifier circuit like all the rest have in them.redlght wrote: January 24th, 2016, 7:06 pm I have got back to working on the old footwarmer amp it used 2 30KD6's it does not say hygain any where on it.
