I wanna set up a base now I have enough radios to do it, buy Mr Coily good to go Right now I have a old Volvo fiberglass antenna setting on 3 poles 15ft :roll: with coax going threw my window so I have a load when Im working on these things

Using a dummy load would probably be better when working on them. You get a more reliable load. jmo

Hey Jess...what happened to that big beam some years back ?
I'm feeling extreme loss over my Quad left on the Island..HA !

I don't see anything wrong with antenna experimenting, been there, done that. I'm working on a good dual band VHF/UHF ham project now.

Just set up a vertical bent L dipole a few weeks ago mainly with extra parts I had laying around. Not expensive only have it at 15 feet using two 102 inch whips and springs for the legs. Works well for me. Going to put up a horizontal dipole with sale design in the future so I can use a switch to change between the vertical or horizontal. Wanting to be able to hear JJD from just south of Pittsburgh.

I appreciate the info on the Quad manufacture, I've never heard of this maker, only Cubex Quads.
I've always wanted to give one a try. That and a Log Periodic.
