Still getting antenna warning light
Hey guys got an issue I can’t seem to figure out, I got a Cobra 29 with an SWR of 1.3 Wilson trucker 2000 antenna. I’ve tried 3 different radios 2 Cobras, and a Mirage MX-36, a new coax, put a new mounting bracket it. All the radios will pop the antenna warning light on, it’s better now that I moved the mount, my antenna is above the cab and 12” away from anything. I’ve never had anything like this happen before

Re: Still getting antenna warning light
My first thought is plug a 5W dummy load into the SO-259 connector on the radio and check for the "red light" when TX'ing. If you have a SWR/RF meter then connect that instrument inline to the radio antenna connection and move the dummy load to the SWR/RF antenna connection. If the red light continues I would carefully check the radio's antenna connector and chassis wiring to the connector. Possible short. Hope this helps.

Re: Still getting antenna warning light
sounds like a antenna mount grounding problem.
Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Re: Still getting antenna warning light
Sounds like a short causing the problem, it could be at a length where it is resonant, that is why the SWR reading doesn't show bad on a meter but still bad for the radio. It is possible it is the antenna, find someone you can switch out one day to do a quick check. Find someone with a analyzer to diagnose it.

That’s what I was thinking too, I’m thinking maybe the door isn’t grounded well enough
