I may be wrong, but 16 amps times 120 volts is 1920 watts. Not sure how they get 3000 watts.

It is a good video, doesn't give a lot of info but that is because they don't want it copied. Without knowing the frequency it was built to is puzzling, VDMOS transistors are mainly for the VHF and UHF bands.

Wonder why the comments are turned off???

I don't want the 4 device unit. I want the half sized 2 device unit. Main reason are 110 house current , low draw, high output and all the protection circuitry. If it operates at our frequencies and wasnt clear what freq that output was attained at.

THEY DON'T!
That would be defying the laws of physics that we have been operating with for decades!

Good point Grinder! You have calculated average input power,1920 watts. System efficiency (EF),
EF= output power/input power. Output power= (input power)(EF). In the video the watt meter is indicating peak power which wasn't mentioned.
Peak input power = {16(1.414)} {(120(1.414)}= 3838. 84 watts,
EF= 3000/3838. 84= 78.14%, output power= (3838. 84)(.7814)= 3000 watts
I hope this helps

Greg,
I think they shut off the comment so we don't expose that Dmos power devices are nothing new. This is typical marketing scheme showing a breakthrough in technology which it's not. Electrical engineering theory doesn't change just the devices do.

@KOA4705,
I think it is more like they don't want negative comments which there would be plenty. Just watching the tube made me go looking for my hip boots. :-D :-D

Greg,
All these amp builders only care about one thing, how much output power on a bird wattmeter. Show us the amplifier performance for example intermod distortion, harmonics dbc etc. Went to their website. Price, availability and spec sheet is pending.

If I were to use an amp it would be a tube amp. CMOS technology has come along way from its first introduction. When first developed the CMOS could not handle any serious current. In my humble opinion something smaller for mobile applications is fine for Bi-polar or CMOS technology. If the amp is a base amp I would prefer its output using tubes.
Respectfully as always,

Rick
