just wondering if anyone might know why my cobraNW29WX will turn on real loud for a split second then shut off. this happens randomly.....its like a quick surge or something? happens somewhat frequently.....thanks....
If it's a loud tone, whether or not the radio is on, it is a warning from the National Weather Service. Flip the switch from CB to WX to hear the weather report.
ok that makes sense........the sound is like if you turn the tv to a static channel real fast, then it goes right off......it is loud, sometimes i will hear just static, other times i will hear the noaa voice for a split second....
same thing happens to my radio all the time too.been like that since i could remember.its kind of annoying when i am trying to sleep but i haven't figured out a way to stop it yet.
My Cobra 25 does that, but it has a weather warning tone associated with it. Ya here the tone and you automatically know some sort of weather warning has just been issued.

DOES IT HAPPEN WHEN YOU ARE MOVING OR SITTING STILL? IF IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN MOVING I WOULD SAY IT IS SOMETIMES YOU GET A STRONGER SIGNAL IN PLACE AS OPPOSED TO ANOTHER. IT COULD BE JUST THE ATMOSPHERE CHANGING IN CERTAIN AREAS. JUST AN OPINION THOUGH.

My old 25WXST use to do the exact same thing. When you first flip it on somehow the weather broadcast guy would come threw for a split second and jump direct back to CB.
