Anyton 6666
I have recently purchased a anytone 6666. I do not care for the factory Mic so I purchased a 6 pin to 4 pin adapter. My mic of preference is the Ranger sra-198 I have also tried the astatic 636 on this radio with very poor results. Both Mic's Will key up and talk but with extremely reduced audio. Do you have any suggestions. Are aftermarket Mic's just not compatible with this radio ?
Thank you in advance for your Insight.

I have found the same thing. Anything other than a four pin it seems you need an adapter. I have purchased a couple myself. Sometimes if you purchase through a radio shop they will wire the mic for you
Keep smiling ...It makes people wonder what your up too !

Re: Anyton 6666
Are you suggesting that the 5 Pin to 4 pin adapter I bought is wired incorrectly ? It keys and transmits but just at a very low audio. I have not tried wiring my Ranger 198 to the 5 Pin plug. I was guessing that mabe the Mic impotence is incorrect ?

Re: Anyton 6666
I had excellent modulation from the original microphone and size/weight was about the same as the Ranger noise cancelling. Did you go into the menu and readjust the settings for modulation, out of the box mine was set at 20, 32 is max. If it is brand new it probably needs to be realigned, on mine the AM power was maxed out causing it to heat up badly. I adjusted the AM power to 2W low, 10w max, and it still swung to over 50w PEP. I'm not an AM'er so I concentrated on getting the SSB right. If your radio didn't come with instruction for the menu, you can download one off the internet, might even find one here if you search.

Re: Anyton 6666
Thank you for your reply. Yes my anytone 6666 was set up correct from the factory. 2 watt dead key swinging 50 with the factory mic but only swinging to10 with the ranger or astatic 636.

Re: Anyton 6666
It has been a while, I sold mine a couple years ago. I do remember some of those 6 to 4 adapters came with a diode and resistor inside for curtain radios, if you have the Ranger or Astatic mic, best to change out the plug to match the radio, that is what most shops do. I would suggest snapping a pic or 2 of the wiring so it's easier to put back to 4 pin. I personally never cared for those adapters, the pigtail type or the straight plug, too much hanging off that fragile mic jack.
