The radio worked before I installed it in the motorhome. Once I installed it I noticed I was only receiving. When I would transmit I sounded garbled and like I was on another channell. I sent the radio out to get fixed. I was told it was out of tune and the mic was bad. He tuned the radio and sent it back. I bought a new mic. Had a friend park down the street about a 1/4 mile away. Anutime he would talk all I got was a buzzing sound. When I tried to talk all he got was a buzzing sound. Maybe a bad new mic?

I’m guessing the antenna is the FireStik brand, I believe they are the only ones still selling an RV antenna. Their antenna depends highly on the coax as a counterpoise, it can’t be coiled up, it needs to be stretched out, you are probably getting a false 1:1 reading. A couple things can cause the buzzing, to close, low voltage, bad microphone, or like I said, SWR is high.

you both have bad mic's???speakers?, maybe its the hearing aides, ? hey dont take that serious,
:? does your buddy's radio talk to others :?: :?:
is the RV made of fiberglass? where on the RV is the antenna mounted?
somehow, if both radios do the same thing, they might be installed wrong.
or possibly off frequency.
still alot of possibilities to investigate.

Make sure your on AM and not LSB/USB...The S9 has to have a mod done so it will work on 11 meter...I assume you had that done?
