Got a steal of a deal on a Motorola Mocat 40 channel mobile. Anyone know if there is any service info on it? At least a schematic. Unit had a blown microphone element and I am trying to keep it stock. After much hunting around the stores on the web I found some elements that fit but one had a blown wire on the voice coil connection and DARN those things are tiny tiny! At any rate since the wire gage is so small I dont want to over bias it and be back in the same boat and since the mic has a built in amp, I thought I would ask a better group than some of the glittery FB pages. Thanks in advance

They were nice simple radios, good receive on them. Try contacting Motorola. Their website I believe has schematics and manuals archived.

Motorola is so cell phone oriented now it is not funny. Could not find any reference even on the radio site. Had to bite the bullet and download SAMS photofacts. I got to say that I have aligned other radios that had a lot more info than this one does! I just had a Galaxy 959B on my bench for a no transmit and blown fuses and there is a lot more info on adjustments in that service manual. LOL

Well they are worth purchasing if the radio is a "keeper". You should have searched the forum topics, there is a member or two with quite a few willing to share his library. I have a couple myself but no Motorola.

I am going to hang on to it! Love the brand and the heritage. Former law enforcement and used them extensively. Long stretch from VHF/UHF FM to AM HF though. Used to install the old micor and other models back in the day.

Thank you for your service.

I too have a few old "keeper" radios I used back in the day, also bought a Sam's for them. Never owned a Motorola or a Cobra, just every other "oddball" brand that came out.

This unit has some great ears! Very sensitive. Cant get S9 0n the meter though and there is no potentiometer to adjust that.

Motorola built their CBs much the same way they built their commercial radios. (Like brick outhouses). That is why they didn’t stay in the CB business long. Just long enough to ride the money train during the 55 speed limit days. I have a few but never ever found much service data on them. I do like them because of the superior build.
