convert extension jack to line audio out help
Hi.
Looking to see if anyone has any suggestions to convert a cb radio extension speaker jack to a low level line out audio?
Just needs to be 1 channel as the ext jack is.
I need this for recording purposes as the regular audio is over powering and does not sound good so was hoping to try line audio level to see if that would help.
thanks

Re: convert extension jack to line audio out help
Not too good still the ext audio from a cb radio is not line and looking to lower it to do some recording. I have tried resistors a Line attenuation and a few other components and the audio is not good. Ill be back at it soon to see if there is some other way.
I dont want to go in the radio and pick the line before the audio chip has to be from the ext jack on all cb radios.
thanks

Re: convert extension jack to line audio out help
I bought this last year and got good results. I can't quite remember how I had it wired at the input but I do remember for the output I used a Y cable, [2 male RCA to 1 male 1/8" TRS (stereo)]. The male 1/8" TRS plugged directly into the audio input jack of my computer. I used this Y adapter cable to ensure I did not get that annoying 1 ear only audio when listening through headphones. Don't quote me on this this but for the input wires, I think I tied the Right and Left POS wires together then tied the Right and Left NEG wires together. I do remember It worked fine. It's laying around here somewhere lol. If you want I'll find it and double check.

Re: convert extension jack to line audio out help
What radio are you using? The external speaker on most is only around 1W output, the PA on them is around 5W. Tapping into an equalizer should drop it down (audio) without sacrificing audio quality. You are saying the quality of the recording is bad, there might be another problem.

Sounds like you are looking for something in a VOX (voice operated transmit) except you want it for receive.
