I recently purchased a powered speaker with DSP filter technology. What a difference! Cleans up alot of noise and it has several levels of filter

Hey..

I use the West Mountain Radio CLRdsp ClearSpeech® on my Icom Pro III and Kenwood 570D and what a heck of a difference it makes.

I have been using a Creative Sound external sound card connected to my radios and the computer. Use the equalizer program to eliminate the hash and static sounds, leaving only voice audio. Sometimes it works great, other times the voices are so low they are eliminated along with the noise.

I used a Heil Sound ClearSpeech Speaker on a Cobra 19, once. You know how noisy those little guys can be. It was quiet, except for all the voices coming in. I guess you can't have everything. Seriously, though, The only drawback to that speaker was that it has to have a separate power supply from the radio to work. That's not a problem in the shack. It's an issue in the truck. I see that BHI has a new upgrade module for their DSP Speakers. It was $169.00. That's a little pricey, but after vacation, I might slip out of the house and order one. Sometimes it's easier to get forgiveness than it is to get permission.

Thanks for the tip. I have an old Icom 746 Pro I use on Field Day and that may really help. I'll check out the West Mountain Radio CLR Clear Speech. Thanks!

:-) i got lucky at a sale and found half a dozen of the older motorola big square "communications" remote speakers, kinda set the standard as to what a good speaker can do, not to mention it is also tough and beverage proof
