First contact on new setup, KY to CA

I've finally bought my first Radio!
After years of using my grandpa's old Cobra 25 on the road driving my semi, I decided to get my own!
I spent months researching and decided to go with a Anytone 6666, it seems to have the best TX and RX out of any (export radios) and with two buttons held down while powering on. It's converted to 11 meters!

I got it installed and got my antenna grounded, and hit the channels surfing! (First time ever using sideband)

Made contact to Mr 192 in the Mojave desert!
The clouds was thick and snowing. Horrible conditions and I still made the trip from KY to CA!

I'm super proud of my little setup and can't wait for better conditions!

Hello Kadokaylen,
Welcome to the forum. I will say the Anytone AT-6666 is a very good radio, the feature I liked the best is the SWR shutdown, keeps you from going too far out of band with your antenna setup. SSB on channels 38 and 39 are getting crowded so a lot are moving up to .425 or more and some use the zero’s ie: .400, .410, .420 .

3’s
