FM Bands

So, picked up a new RCI-2995DXCF recently. And I can't believe that 12 meter band only covers 24.89- 24.99. But what I curious about is, why does my 2995 have FM. Which band is FM? Don't think it's 10m, so it must be 12 meters. Just not sure. And FM would sound much better, especially if using Hi-Fi injection.

The RCI-2995DXCF is a total beast of an amateur radio transceiver that covers multiple frequency bands, including the super cool 12-meter band!

It's like, from 24.89 to 24.99 MHz. But, here's the thing, FM (Frequency Modulation) isn't really a thing in the 12-meter band for amateur radio stuff.

FM is like the popular kid in the 10-meter band (28.0 to 29.7 MHz) that all the cool amateur radio peeps use!

It's possible that your RCI-2995DXCF radio is like a multitasking genius and can work on both the 12-meter and 10-meter bands. So you can totally catch those FM signals on the 10-meter band and enjoy some sick audio quality, especially with that Hi-Fi injection magic! It's gonna sound like music to your ears, literally!

Thank you BOZO, plus I do also get 11 meters on this rig. Will be checking out the 10 meter band more often now.

I have an older 2995dx, using FM is pretty good on that radio, almost amateur radio quality but its SSB is excellent.
The upper portion of 10m uses FM for repeaters. Technician class ham’s can use 28.300 to 28.500 USB.
As for 12m, the band isn’t very active but I’ve used it to talk local and had a net on it from time to time.

Thanks MDY, will be listening more often on the upper 10m band now. When 11m is dead at least.

With some very good propagations u can work FM stations in Europe too!

My amateur radio transceiver has FM too, but the only FM used on the HF ham bands is on the upper portion of 10 meters. Specifically, from 29.500-29.700. and really only 5 frequencies (4 pairs) are used:

29.600 FM simplex
29.620 repeater outputs (input 29.520)
29.640 repeater outputs (input 29.540)
29.660 repeater outputs (input 29.560)
29.680 repeater outputs (input 29.580)

But recently the FCC has made a rule change allowing FM on all 40 CB channels. I don't know if that rule change is in effect yet or when it goes into effect, but you might give it a try.

Yes, you can use FM on the CB band now, Uniden has the president McKinley II in FM now, took them a while to deplete the old stock SSB radios.
