Telescopic Masts

I see a lot of telescopic masts, MFJ, Channel Master, Rohn, etc, etc. I am thinking of switching my dipole from the trees to the masts because of the high winds over the past year that are getting worse and the branches are snapping. Any good mast companies out there anyone is using that hold up well?

It depends on how high you want one. Most of the companies are expensive because you are paying for their name, Rohn, Channel Master, etc. It maybe not better but check out the telescoping or sectional flagpoles on eBay, sometimes you can catch a deal for under $100.
Granted they aren't as strong as the brand names but being aluminum they are lighter to handle. A plus with the flagpole, you get a weatherproof cord and pulling assembly for the top.

I have to run stealth over here and hid the imax 2000 and the Hex beam so far with all these HOA's so there its no tower in site. The Hex on a pole mast is working great on 10 meters reaching China, South Korea, Japan and Taiwan. I need the push up poles for portable operation at state parks and thinking about getting the Buddihex in a bag.

i made my own many many years ago and its still working fine,
basic 20' tower with a crank up 30'mast.
no guywires, and it held up fine to 80mph wind .
i went with this design because i had seen it hold up in tornado alley, but those had guywires.
when i built it the material cost was less than a C note and only took me 4 hours.
but i fabricate stuff all the time so the :? dipsnit factor was zero. ;)

That's a good point 443. That's high winds. It's great that you can fabricate stuff all the time. We only get about 45 mph here during the storms and my old iMAX 2000 has been up since 2006 and the beam has been up a year. So far so good here. Knock on wood.
