HF Propagation Map

The 11 meter band was open real good last night after midnight when I checked into it. There was good short skip into Wisconsin and a few other states in that area. Ontario was also blasting in on channel 36-40 LSB along with the free band above channel 40.

Check out the propagation map and save it to your phone. Then you can find out the times the bands are open. Just click on 28mhz. The predictions should mirror 11 meters since the bands are so close. There is more activity on 11 meters than 10 because on 10 meters, everyone is listening and no one is talking unless you call CQ. It was really cool to hear the 11 meter band open up real good after midnight to about 2am EST.

At the top of the propagation map, uncheck all the checks except for 28 MHz.

I have an old CB set up for receive only in my shack as a band monitor. Usually have it on channel 6, if I hear the loud stations start to come up there then I know the band is opening up.

Hey TNT1450. That's a great point too. I do that sometimes and let channel 38 LSB run all day in the background until the skip rolls in.
