Is there a shortage of Wilson 1000 antennas????
Is there a shortage of Wilson 1000 antennas????
This is the second one I have had stolen. I don't know if it is a prank, punks. Or if there are people out there who don't want to pay for it. I went to my car Sunday morning and the antenna on my trunk was gone. For the second time. Now I have to invest in a car alarm and a new Will 1000. Any suggestions on alarms, I want this thing to chirp if a bird poops on the car. If the wind blows I want the alarm to go off. I want to catch this **Censored** HOLE.

Propane tank, regulator, high pressure flame and a relay together with an alarm with optional output for "proximity warning" and "alarm" = hella fun and burning these guys to a crisp!
On a less serious note <grin> clifford, viper (anything from DEI), etc are good alarms. I've got one that I never installed in a car, because at the time it was all about car stereo, but I since sold it and now its a 700 whp dragcar, go figure. With its non-stock engine management I just pull the ECU out of the car with me before I lock it up. I no longer have a use for the alarm and its a nice one, forget the model number though, but it has the remote that will page you when someone is messing with your vehicle, show you what sensor tripped the alarm (it has a LCD screen built into the remote) and will remote start (for the cold mornings or hot days), etc. If I have it with me, we'll work something out for but a fraction of the price. If I dont have it with me, its in Navy storage and I wouldnt be able to get it to you until Dec 6th.
Will look for it though.

Lift the film off just a little (have rubber cement ready, its what I used), engrave your initials or something even less obvious (or researchable for that matter), apply rubber cement let cure, done.
There might be something better than rubber cement, but that is what I used on this one I just got from RA as well as the 1000 I had years ago and the 5000 I had after that, then again to a 1000 because for some reason SWR's were a pain for me with the 5000. Funny, owned three 1000's in my lifetime and didnt have them stolen, broken or otherwise. Strange.
But yeah, definitely do the initials/symbol/whatever thing that Mike recommends. It wont stop the theft, but, as said in the Navy, you'll know who to take to the swab locker when it does get taken.

Sometimes my biz takes me into less than desirable hoods, so after having one W5000 stolen, I just unscrew the coil/stinger. But with snow season here, that's not convenient. So I bought a W500 and took some ScotchBrite and buffed the Wilson name off it and so far the indigenous neighborhood types haven't figured it out. But then, I have added an alarm, and my Glock back-up helps too. Only God will help the puke that ever gets inside............
