galaxy 949

i've just bought a galaxy 949 and on the ssb usb i never hear anyone
talking.could there be something wrong with this radio.

Not many people run on ssb up or low. at least not as many as run on standard am channels. I would guess your radio does not have a problem. Also, the 949 is a standard CB and runs fairly low power = not enough range.

( Now I've opened a can of worms, all the ssb guys are gona jump in ! )

I don't think many people use SSB on the CB channels very often. I've only used it once on my Cobra 200 GTL.

38 LSB is the most popular unless your into exports, then .475 and others are pop. Skip is low right now but when its rolling SSB is hoping.

here where i am we all use the sidebands channels 35 to 40 all the time.

Yep I must agree with all that was said above.
SSB will get better as the sunspot cycle picks up in the not too distant future :Peace!:

I talk on 27.555 with my 949 alot, there is an easy channel mod for it.
