Well guys I finally made it into this forum and I know some of you might be saying well its about time. LOL Yesterday for my birthday Montana(Cowboy) gave me a base station with handheld Turner JM+@2/U mic and a Palomar TX 100-N. All seems to work just fine AM, USB, LSB but if I turn the linear on and keydown on AM (does not happen on SSB) I get a chop noise like not enough power to keep radio on Im confused as to what is causing this.
Weird. I wonder if the problem is in the amp relay that is switched from AM to SSB. Clearly, your radio sound like in working order. Does it have a AM-SSB switch, or it is supposed to be automatic switching? My guess is the relay, but it's just a guess.
Hi Tech helped me figure out what is going on. With my base pluged into the wall with the amp on am it is drawing more than the plug is providing to operate both at the same time. It doesnt happen as much on ssb since it dosent pull as much as am does, so I just need to get a stronger power source to run the amp on am
