Hi

New guy here, been looking at the forum for about a week, just got signed up today, there seems to be allot of great information here. That's one thing I have learned so far, there's allot of info out there! just trying to figure out whats right and whats wrong. So for the last month I been working on getting my radio mounted I'm my Windstar van which is not as easy as it may sound. Getting my antenna mounted in a location to have a low SWR, and getting a good ground. My radio that I'm running is a Lafayette HB 525 , Its looks like new and seems to work well. I have been talking to my brother Who is running an older President mobile set up. I would say on average we can talk an average of 6-8 miles depending on conditions, and local. (we live in a suburban city area) So I guess my questions is what can we expect out these older radios, and if anybody else here is interested in older radios? I was also thinking about getting a small amp. Do you think that would be a problem

Thanks for your Help
