Low DK, Max Swing.....for driving an amp?
I love the DX 959 i run in my truck.
I've been looking online at different tweaks for it and have tried to order a few of the electrial parts but haven't found a good source yet. I turned up the modulation, as well as the AM power and it's modulating 100% and swinging about 12 watts dead key.
One of the "tweaks" i'm going to attempt next is the RF output increase.
They say after the mod, that the unit will dead key around 2 watts, and swing around 28.
Why would you want to do this?
I've heard that it helps in driving an amplifier?
Will this help even if i DON'T run the amp?
Excuse my lack of knowledge, i'm just trying to figure out whether I should go ahead with the mod or not. I don't want to have to "re-do" anything.

959
I have a 959, I run the am at 2 watts dk and get around 12 watts peak, and on ssb peak at 18 to 20, I have the alc about a 1/3 of a turn from full and the meter swings great and good reports, on the outboard I set my power control to a 2 watt reading on the meter and the mic control around 12 o'clock and it drives a palomar elite 250 nicely at a couple hundred, and good for skip...
