OK i am looking for a meter to keep in line in my pickup. don't want something really huge as i want to keep it in line permanently. needs to at least be able to handle 160 watts as that's what my cobra 200 is peaking out at, but an amp will be going in there later this summer so i Will probably need something bigger at some point.any one got any good suggestions for a good meter with out breaking the bank???

Yea, I'd like to do the same thing, too. I've seen guys do killer set ups using a Bird. :D I'd love to do that! However, like you I'd be more inclined to do a less expensive (and likely not as accurate) meter. I have no idea how large these are and their quality, but I thought a dual meter like this one would be cool.

Clay's carries them for $55...which seems pretty reasonable to me. It'd be cool to add a small light inside too...but heck, I think even the Workman ones would due for ya'.

Can't wait to see what others think. I've seen some pretty slick set-ups that some of the guys have done here! ;)

Workman makes a night lighted midsized 4000 watt cross needle meter as well. They test modulation, swr, and audio. They are also lighted and I think run about $65 kinda looks like the above meter!
