radio suggestions
radio suggestions
I own a 2005 silverado truck.
I want a cheap decent working radio for highway use and very little around town use ( too many knuckleheads around here )
I say cheap because i don't want an expensive radio stolen.
I was thinking of buying a handheld to hide under the seat and use at those times or a small radio and mount it under the dash and use a antenna that replaces the existing am/fm antenna and has a splitter to use with a cb and still use for a am/fm radio.
any advice for me?

Hi Wadedog,
Contact [Please login or register to view this link] and e-mail them about your needs. I would stay away from those combo AM/FM/CB antennas. They are kinda like one of those convertible ladders. Not a good step ladder and not a good roof ladder.
I have a 2005 GMC Crew Cab. You don't need something as fancy as I've got, but if you'd like to see pictures of it go to spaces.msn.com/bryanemily and then look at the photo album for my truck.
Take care, and contact radioactiveradio.com. You'll be impressed.

Thanks for the welcome.
I have a k40 mag mount that i used to have on my older truck and it was a pain going under drive thru over hangs, and i hated to jump out all the time and remove the mast from the mag. also it advertises that i have a cb installed and risk it being stolen.
Also shaft i went to your space but i couldn't find your truck pics ,only the mustang and new york pics.

well i'm thinking now on a walkie talkie type radio maybe,
I was looking into the type where everything is in the mic so that the box could be hid and the mic doesn't stand out asking to be stolen.
I really only need a radio for when i'm traveling on the highway and have a range of five miles or so ?
I just hate having my antenna hit every low branch and drive thru over hang, maybe i would mount a full on radio under the dash if i could have a good very short antenna, any suggestions?
