Inquiry about Sponsors and Radio Suggestion

#53694

Post by MEAN Joe Green »

Break Break !!!
Found forum several days ago. Nice.

First issue:
Been thinking about buying a mobile radio to broadcast once again on the 11-meter band. MANY options out there. Main issue with me is weather to buy a "regular" CB radio or one of those "conversion" types. Any suggestions?

Second issue:
Which sponsor here has the best reputation and price. I've checked out all of them. Their prices vary somewhat, and their "sales puff" seems to be all the same. Any suggestions ??

Thanks for any input.

FIRST AND FOREMOST WELCOME TO THE FORUM

mike at Radioactive

or AL at Sparkys will both do you right

mike seems to have one of the best reputations on here and i have not personally down any business with him but from everyone else saying GREAT things about his radios i will (when i get the money) be doing business with him.

i am currently getting ready to purchase a antenna from Sparkys and have been happy so far with who i have talked to over there.
........................................................................................................

as far as radios to buy i have 2 different types. it really all depends on what it is exactly your looking for

i have a General Lee from CB CITY (another forum sponsor) and am very happy with it. both RX and TX very well for being beaten up in my semi with i do a lot of local farm work with bouncing in and out of Fields and dirt roads and has held up very well so far

in my pickup i run a newer cobra 200 with a 102 SS Whip and and averaging over 20 miles send and receive. both of these radios are peaked tuned and aligned and am very happy with both. but i personally like my General Lee more as it seems to have more of a punch when Keying in high traffic areas to where my 200 seems to pickup every signal no matter how weak or strong in high traffic areas.

Get a RCI, you won't get a automated recorder that tells you the weather,

I can give you frequencies that you can hear and feel the weather from spotters in your area

These guys said it. I have done business with Al and Mike. They do the things "we" need. 1. Answer the phone and 2. answer any questions you will have. They talk to you like a neighbor would. Granted you get along with your neighbor. You came to the right place.

OH yeah, welcome.

Hey Mean Joe Green ... I've spoke with you skip before. I'm sure I did. Peace.

I bought a galaxy 95t2 from Radio Active Radios. They did a nice job on the mods and I liked the service. My 2 cents.

Stay tuned :)

Hey right righ on....

Thanks bosshog, and all the "pill users", for the wonderful replies....lots of stuff to consider before plucking down the "green" for a good "chatterbox" and a set of "ears".

I'm flipping between the Cobra 29 Nightwatch or the Rebel General from the South.......K-1000 Wilson seems like a good antenna. Might also get the black mobile version of the D-104 mike.... We'll see.

Thanks again for the suggestions !!! BREAK BREAK !!!! :mrgreeen:

Welcome Mean Joe Green.
I have done business with both RA and AL at Sparkys.

RA did my General Lee up and a Galaxy 2547 base. I also got my wilson 1000 from RA. Both are great radios and I have talked DX with both.

Al at Sparkys did a p/t on my Cobra 29 LTD and it is awesome for a low end radio. Great audio and ears.

I would recommend either one of them without a pause. Great bunch of people as sponsors and members. They all add to the experience of the forum and its great.

Just a quick note. Most guys here have their favorite radios and sponsors. A "Regular CB" is difined in the bottom section on everything FCC. If you read that section you will see what the legal definition is. Most of us here use either modified CB radios like Cobra, Uniden, Midland, etc. that have been modified from the stock 4 watts to around 12 or others of us are using 10 meter "Export" radios that have been converted to work in the CB band and run 45 or so watts power.

Radio Active and Sparkys are both reputable dealers and do what they say they will do.
