Post by Kelly'sRules »

Hello all I just bought this radio from GI Joe's, it seems to work well except it will not transmit on several frequency's on Band A or Band C , The one freq that I need is 26.805 (Band A 2.3) I can receive but not transmit is there anything I can do with this radio? Thanks:(

Welcome to the forum!! You remove the R138 to convert that radio, I have heard to put the R138 on the pads of R619 to really get all the freqs of TX without doing that some freqs are receive only , but some of those freqs are old Government freqs,,,

The 11 meter mod has been done, so that part works but if I can only receive on 26.805 is anyone interested in a slightly used cobra 150 GTL DX?

I have been told that you can go to Band A 2.5 which is 26.795, put 10KHz switch up and that will get me to 26.805. But I thought from reading the owners manual that the 10KHz switch just made the channel selector move in 10KHz steps instead of 5KHz. Anyone know? I don't have easy way (unless I'm on the road) to check what's really happening. Thanks again for any help.

Sounds like BigBopper gave you the correct info, Sounds exactly like the conversion was done to open up the bands but the resistor pulled from R138 wasn't installed onto the R619 pads. This will give you recieve on all but no transmit on the "government" channels.

I don't have the parts, GI Joe's set it up for me I guess I'll have to see if they'll fix it or maybe I can send it to Sparky's. Thanks to all for they info! Kelly.

Do you mean R676? I can't find R619 But both R138 and R676 are open with nothing bridging them.

jledbetter8, Or anyone else who has access to one of these. Would you please see if your 150 will transmit on 26.805 (Band A 2.3) Mine will not. I don't want to send it back for something it just won't do! Thanks. Kelly
