OK so the neighbor has complained a little about TVI.Is there a filter i can run to help with this and if so,will the filter compromise my performance.I don't think its bad unless i put the fire in the wire.
My setup is in my sig if that helps.

I have tried top of the line filters and that didn't work. From what I am reading on the internet now, 1 or 2-1/4" snap on RF chokes from Radio Shack works. Place them on the power cord of your neighbors TV near where it goes into the back of the TV. Also 1 or 2-1/2" chokes near the feed point of your antenna, will stop the coax from radiating. All it is, is a ring made of special material usually Ferrite material called a Ferrite Bead, or Ferrite Ring. They come in all differant shapes and sizes.
What you do is buy a ferrite ring, and then take the power cord of your neighbors TV, and loop it through the Ferrite Ring about 6 times or so tight against the power cord... You may need to adjust this per your situation.

Normally it will remove any RF interference... I found that the Low Pass filters sometimes work, but for others they have not solved the problem. If your running big power, always use a filter!
Antennas, and mostly poor antennas can cause TVI issues. some people say using an antenna with radials helps with TVI issues.

It could be from harmonics from your transmitter, or it could be the TV picking you up thru its AC power cord. If its harmonics, then you need a better low-pass filter on your transmitter. One way to find out if its harmonics, is you can put the TV on CH5, and put your radio on 27.250 MHz transmitting. Your third harmonic will blast right thru the audio on TV CH5.
As well you can transmit on 26.945Mhz (maybe slide down a few KHz) and see if you screw up the color on TV CH5. If you do either of those, you need a better lowpass filter on the output of your footwarmer.
If your picked up on any channel regardless of what channel the TV is on or your radio is on, then try the ferrites on the tv's power cord.

Depending on "How Many Neighbors" you have, that your willing to buy filters for, best thing would be to run Barefoot, when around the house!

depending how bad it is, there's loads you can do..
1, a 106" wire comeing from the back of your rig or Amp to act as a couterpoise earth, (might not work)
2, the ferrite rig, but i find it best in the TV's aerial coax get it loopedfrom the bottom half way round come back to the start and loop agai on the other half of the ring so it has a coax in and a coax out on opposite ends, work pretty well..
3, a rig TVI filter get a quality one, spend a few bucks on a Yaesu, Kenwood or other amateur one, these are made for 1kw or more and are made to work, usually do the trick.
4, make a 'braid bracker' or in-line filter.. easy really, two little chokes of wire made on a 5mm former with i think 6 turns, two resistors i think 47k and two capacitors, not sure of value, a company in the UK make some good ones look for AKD cheap too..
all this is on a pice or perf board and then coax in on one side into the circuit which is a cross over circuit and coax out the other, don't know how it works but i've made loads and all have worked,
then theres the final one, tell him it's his TV lacking in imunity (lack of decent filters) and it's a cheap crap TV and to get a good one thats not been made in a shed by some 5 year old taiwanese children..

But it's true, a lot of the older TV's of yesteryear never got TVI, but these 4002 plasma cutting diamond tipped liquid titanium junk, look all nice but don't half get some crap..
i have even gotten noise on my rig when the neighbours puts his TV on, dare i tell him to turn it off !!!

Well i got several neighbors but it's only bothering one.(not the closest one either).I think I'll just run bare foot for a little while since I'm in the middle of upgrading my setup.Right now I'm running an old ground plane with "cheap"mini 8 for coax.But I'm going back with a SE4+ and LMR 400 for coax.I figure this will help along with me buying a good filter.
