JUST AQUIRED A MIDLAND BASE
I just got an old Midland 13-858. I believe it's an old crystal radio made in Japan.
Anybody have any info on this radio and know how to maintain them.

Worked fine for me. It's free...download the Adobe reader like Bopper posted.
Dang...that is exactly like my very first radio only white! Mine was a 13-976 (I think?) which was black...and had SSB.
That was a talkin' radio, for sure!!! After P&T'd it had a sound all it's own. :D
Let us know how it goes.

I updated my reader even though I had Acrobat Reader version 5 .
But I'm still not able to view the pdf files. I keep getting error messages :
"Problems with this web page may prevent it from being displayed properly or functioning properly...."
Line: 1
Char: 1
Error: Object expected
Code: 0

Any suggestions?

Ok, I found the problem. I just recently updated my Internet Explorer to 7.0 and it must not be compatible. I can read it just fine now.
I took the radio to work one night to see if operated properly (I can't talk to anybody from the house). The reception was a little stat-icy but I was told it sounded crystal clear.
I hooked up my SWR/Power meter and I'm not getting any power output. I currently have my NGP antenna hooked up. The radios meter reads about .5 but when keyed up it jumps up and falls back to 0. The light also dims on the radio. If I wiggle the channel knob and key up again it'll peg the meter and I can use my Fire/Rescue/Work scanner as a talk back.
If I hold it keyed up it'll drop back to 0 again after about 8 seconds. Then I'll have to wiggle the knob again and re-key up.
