Ventilation for a 6 pill.

I have a Ford F250 which has a pretty good size console between the 2 seats. I'm sticking my 6 pill in it. Any idea how I should ventilate it? I was thinking a fan in front for air intake and one in the rear for exhaust. Any ideas about the kind of fans and how much CFM or any other ideas? Some one had ran their a/c through their console but I don't have that option. The truck is new and I don't wanna butcher anything.

I say hit your local computer store or radio hack as a last resort, they are expensive. Maybe put one fan inside that will draw fresh air in across the amp and out the other side.. Put holes on both sides, that way if you decide one fan isn't enough, you can add another one to pull fresh air in. I think if I put in a larger amp that is where it will go.

Ventilation designes can be complex regardless of size of case. Usually the amount of airflow you have going into the case should equal the amount of air flow going out of the case.

The simple way to do this is to (like you said) have one fan blowing air in, and the other fan blowing air out. But you need to make sure you place the fans in the correct places. When dealing with hot items, there is potential for what they call air lock, or dead air. This means that with out you knowing there may be spots inside the chassis where air is sitting, and NOT circulating as it should. This will cause areas in the chassis to become over heated.

A simple way to ventilate is to place fans on opposite ends of the chassis, and diagonally from each other. Take a look at this quick diagram.

agree with all of the above...place the cool/inlet as low as possible, and the hot/exhaust as high as possible.

Place some small speaker grilles over the holes to finish them off and make 'em look nice.....that's about all I have to add.

Air lock? Dead air? You guys are amazing!! Those last two responses are valuable information. I wouldn't have even considered that. I'da tossed 2 fans in there and not even considered location!!

here is how i had mine i had made the vents on the sides of the box down low air still could move in and out but out off eye sight

In the bottom pic I can see holes in the top left of your console. Do you have another set opposite to that? I didn't see a fan. What is the other contraption that's in there? How hot does it get in the console?

What vehicle is that console in? Trying to judge how it compares to the console in my F-250.
