radio& amp install ?s

getting ready to install a new radio, and amp in the work truck. its a 2006 mack granite dump truck. radio is galaxy 45mp, and davemade 1x2.

here are my thoughts so far:
radio on dash where the old one currently sits. instead of using the supplied power port on the dash for powering the radio, i will run power directly to the battery.

amp i would like to mount on floor between seats, and behind or beside the tower(with all the bed controls). this way i can run my power right down throught the tower to the underside of the truck and to the battery. i prefer to not mount amp to top of cb as it will make it really tough to see out the right side windshield.

upgraded coax is aready installed in truck, and routed through the dash like the factory coax was. will also run coax from cb through dash, across floor, to amp, and back again to hook up to antennas.

i think i read somewhere that i should ground the amp to the seat, and at the battery. is this correct?

will i need to run a ground wire from the cab to the frame also?

what size wire is best. 4gauge? 10 gauge off radio? 10 from radio to amp?

all advise and imput is welcome, and thanks in advance.

most vehicles body is sitting on rubber bushings then mounted on frame
so run a ground from amp to chassis not seat bolt

Yea more than likely your Mack is guna be air ride so your body is sittin on air bags my bro International 9900i is air ride so we ran a 10 gauge wire from amp to frame works perfectly.

I was also told by a guy that is retired from workin on government equipment and he said they always ran a ground wire from the amp/radio casing to the engine block for ground he says run your power wires directly to the batteries and then take your ground wires from the cases to the engine block :? Duno if it works or not im guna try it this weekend and see if it takes the engine noise and all the electrical noise out of my radio.

OK here we go again

1. run ground strap from neg post on battery to frame
2. run both pos and neg from battery to the amp
connect fuse on pos side close to battery as possible
where neg cable from battery connects amp neg at that point connect a ground lead from there and go to frame

even if the amp only has a pos wire coming out
and a neg bolt on case of amp still run the neg from battery to the neg bolt on amp at that point also run a neg lead to the frame
