SWR PROBLEMS

#55069

Post by highdrive »

First of all, I'm running a newer cobra 29 with a high/low switch for my dead key (2watts low 5watts high) into my 333 built 2pill (2879) box. From there it goes to my cheap rat shack meter and then up to the maco v5/8. With no amp in line, SWR's are about 1.1-1.2 on cb freq's. With the amp in line with the 6 ft jumper, turn on swr's jumps to 2.0! So I took that almost new box out of line and installed my Palomar 250 (2x1446's). Turn the amp on and swr's just barely climb or stay the same! Now do you guys think my input on the amp circuit is off?? Maybe my coax (rg-8mini) can't take the comp box??!! I also see a change on my radio's swr meter when on the pump. Something must not be tuned to 50ohms?? Anyway to correct the amp transformers...add a variable cap on input transformer. Any suggestions before I throw this comp box clone into the wall!!!

Man nobody had any suggestions?!? Oh well...had take things in my hands. FYI....had to decrease length of capacitors. At rf level...long wires left on components create long wire capacitance. After that...swr's with amp on 1.1-1.2!!! Good match...
