reception question
I have a connex 4300hp. My usual truck broke down, in which my connex was receiving around 6-7 miles. Running a wilson 2000. In the loner truck, running a firestick mounted in the mirror, I was getting 15 MILES easy. Now back in my truck the wilson broke Not that I was impressed with it anyway. I went back to an adjustable firestick and at best I can only receive 4 miles.I can run my uniden 78 and receive 8 miles. I have ran a ground and all.

Switch antennas when nobody is looking. 
Honestly, I'd find it hard to believe ANY Firestik would do 15 mile range.
Are you positive it was a Firestik? or could it have been some other top loaded antenna that looked like it? If it is, are we talking a co-phased set up and have you checked the standing wave?
