I found this info searching for wiring info. It is straight from GM. May help some of us GM owners out on our installs.

Yeah, I would imagine running the power wires from the drivers side to the passenger side along the outside of the firewall would pick up some fierce RF interference from the plug wires at the rear of the engine. It makes sense to run them in the front or go through the passenger side of the firewall straight to the battery.
