2950 Freezes on power-up
Hi Folks
I have a 2950 at home that sometimes freezes when I power it up. If I turn it on and go directly to CB mode, no issue. If I go into manual or memory mode, the display shows most if not all the items and the radio freezes.
Anyone have any idea what the hell may be wrong?
Thanks and 73's to all.

I have a Pyramid Phase III 35Amp power supply. The 2950 is the older one, not the new 2950DX.
I have other radios hooked up to this same power supply, such as an ICOM-735 and an older Marine radio.
I have not had any issues with the other radios.
The 2950 was having the same problems when it was hooked up to a smaller power supply.
I was thinking (hoping) it may be a battery issue. It will not hold any freq's in the memory.

Nice looking setup you got there. It looks all nice and organized.
By the way, my 2950 is an original model as well. RCI recommended a 5 amp power supply, so I bought one, and it wouldn't power the radio. I kept getting the same problem you're getting. So I bought a 10 amp power supply, and same issue. I finally bought a 25 amp Pyramid just for the 2950....and it puts out I think like 18 amps, and it fixed the issue.

2950 Locks Up
I bought my 2950 about 15 years ago, and it started locking up a few years back. All I had to do was turn it off and right back on to clear it up. The problem disappeared after a couple of months and hasn't frozen up since. I chalked it up to radio Gremlins. :<)

Ok folks, Thanks for all your help. Screamin demon, thanks for the trouble shooting info. I haven't really looked at what was showing on the display when I start it up, but will when I get home. There is a good radio shop here I can take it to.
