General lee will not modulate

#87043

Post by bookie »

a friend has a general lee that will not modulate like its suppose to. it still works, putts out about 20w, 30-40 modulation, and echo works a little if you turn it up to max. this radio used to walk and talk. it was loud, put out over 40 watts, and more than 120% modulation with out clipping. before this it would stop transmitting and the xmit/recieve light would just blink on and off about 20 times a when you pushed the PTT. it stopped doing this about a week before the modulation and audio problem. also, i can still hear him when he is talking but he is just really low.

the bad. the radio was starved a few times just before it stopped working.

hope some one can help me get started on a repair.

If you're not up to speed with that radio as far as repairs are concerned maybe you would be better off contacting Mike at Radioactive... JMHO

May be a bad solder joint, resistor, weak cap? I would take too or send too a reputable shop.

if you want you can mail it to me and i can just toss it in he trash for you. free of charge, ill even cover the shipping lol. no it honestly sounds like it may ave a weak cap or a busted solder. shouldnt be much to repair, depending on the honesty of the cb shop.
