I ran across a Regency Polaris MT5500xl Marine radio in some of my grandfathers old stuff. does anyone know the FCC regulations on these things? Is it a good radio? what frequencies do these radio's operate at? and should I waste time putting it in my dads boat or does anyone even talk on these frequencies in-land? this thread may be posted in the wrong section, but it was the closest thing I could find.
I know nothing about marine radio's any input would be helpful.
Using Marine radio in land will depend on how big of a lake you've got. Lake Lewisville, North of Dallas is fairly large and has several large boats on it. They also have a Coast Guard station on it.
PM me if you are interested in selling it. I live right by Galveston Bay and the Houston Ship Channel. I think it would be fun to listen to the boats go up and down through there.
