Well, I'm still working on getting my new rig up. The President McKinley is very patiently waiting for me to finished.
Need to get my antennas up yet.
Just today, ordered an Astatic D104M6b from Walcott Radio and they have the President 6 pin wiring capability.
I AM quite excited about having this mic on my rig.
Things are slowly coming together.

Looking forward to hearing what you think of the D104 on the McKinley.
I recently got a McKinley - I am still running the stock mike and have been considering an upgrade.

We'll let you know in a couple weeks, I imagine. Planning to mount the di-pole today and expect the mic in the coming week.

Just got my new Galaxy DX979F and a few mods to go with it. Duel finals FQP13N10-with supporting hardware, Top Gun compressor, clarifier mod, bigger caps on the power supply, something about a crystal filter, and a Palomar SL-41 noise canceling mic.
Had a really bad squeal on transmit. Made a 16" braided ground strap and bonded the case to the Jeep body. Radio was just mounted to the plastic console. Seems to have taken care of the squeal.
Haven't used i much but overall I like it. Nicer receiver than my old cobra 19, and the noise limiter works great. Other than that, it's just a radio. As far as the other goodies, everyone else can comment on what they hear.

Just got another (old model) Magnum Deltaforce up and running. Runs great too....my Scope and other skipshooters told me so. Hooked up my RM Italy KL-300P (modified) to it and JOY!
Well...back to fixing another 6L6-based Fender lead amp for an old chum.

Just got a Anytone AT-6666 from 88 Radio. Out of the box the default settings were AM =10w, 35w pep, FM = 40w, and SSB = 50w pep. Modulation default setting was on 30 and I left it there. went through the menu turning off the unnecessary stuff, changed the AM DK to 5w (in the menu) and now it swings to 50w, left FM and SSB alone. Frequency was right on the money out of the box, I have the display on frequency instead of channels just because i know the channel frequency and it's my preference, 6 digit readout is nice. I set the SWR protection at 2:1 to save the finals from disaster.
I have it hooked to the base antenna, everyone so far likes the sound of the stock mic and shot a little skip with it, talked to 165 (Nasty Dan) in Florida with no problem.
I'm still tweaking it, writing everything down as I go so I'll post more later in the radio mods section.

So is that you I hear bommin' in here in Utah on 38?
I look for good deals on used stuff. Saw an ad today that read "3 cb's, 15 bucks". Called they guy and he didn't know what they were and said he'd call back when he got home. A couple hours later he gave me the numbers and they were all those cheap, small units. They aren't really bad, just no real features and probably not as good as your normal, full sized Cobra. I've used a few and they work fine but they weren't really anything to write home about. But I figured the mic's might be good for backups so told him I'd come get them. After a half hour drive, I found the Cobra didn't even have a mic but I bought them anyway. As I was loading up, he said, hey I have 3 or 4 more, do you want them too? "How much" I asked. "Make it 20 even and you can have them all" was his reply. I figured, as long as I'm buying junk, why not get a lot of it. As he went in the front door he hollered back, they're those big ones the truckers use. Well, the first one was another little plastic thing but the second was a Cobra 25, a good, dependable, little unit and the last two were Galaxys! His dad was now on the porch and I didn't have my glasses on to see what model they were but I really love the 979 DX I've been using lately and these looked identical to it so I loaded them up and took off before his Dad could ask what he sold them for. A few blocks away, I found they were 929's, the same as the 979 without sideband, but with all the other features, variable power, talkback, Roger Beep (option), large swing meter, no-calibration SWR, etc. I figure, 7 radios for 20 bucks with three good ones ... not so bad a deal.
Tested the Galaxys and the Cobra just now and they work great! Put the rest in a box for later. I was surprised to see one Galaxy has the red channel display and the other the blue like the 979. I figured it was older but no, it's a few years newer. Anyway, I like the Galaxys and I'm glad to have a couple more.

Well, They're nothing like Greg's Anytone (you know, NASA calls him when they can't get through to the International Space Station, apparently he has contacts as far away as Mars!) but for the price, they're nice little radios.
How do you like your McKinley? (Hope they didn't have to rename it Denali.) Do you get much skip from out west? I don't hear much from the North East. Florida, Texas, Georgia, North Carolina and points in between boom in here (Utah) when the skip is rollin' but I never seem to hear anyone up in your area. Now ... I did have a good chat with a fellow claimed to be in England a while back but his lack of accent and the fact that he didn't know where or what Kent was (a county, not a town) I kind of think he was in a pickup at the end of my street, pullin' my leg.
From your avatar, it looks like you might be an Anytone fan too, nice rig. Oh well, 73's to you, hope to hear you out there sometime. (38 lsb)

Yes I am my only child and I am spoiled. Just got this in from Greece. Have never seen another and it is really nice. Bought a converter from the smiley box store to power it. Its a 220 volt radio and with the converter didn't have to even change plugs. it's awesome. Sommerkamp TS740-SSB Waaay cool.

Well, I got the President Washington from 1978, 40 Channel SSB. Sideband doesn't work.
Got a D-104 Lollipop Mic and that works on AM on that rig.
Expecting a Cobra 142 GTL on Monday and we'll see how that works.
Still need to get the Tram 1499 antenna up.
The new President McKinley I got is working just fine.
SWR 1.4 - 1 * 4 watts output on the DR Dipole.
Things are looking up.
Need to find someone that is working on OLD rigs though
