When I get my base back up and running my call will be the same as it was back in the day - 1533Natalie.
Natalie is of course my name. My numbers (I chose because they rhymed with my name) are related to significant events that happend when I was 15 and when I was 33.
Banjo, not sure what everyone else does but I took the lead from the locals here when I was shooting skip. I would go to whatever sideband channel was really jumping at the moment and said "CQ, CQ. CQ DX. 1533Natalie standing by."

banjo315 wrote:By the way! What do I say to make a contact? Everyone is shouting numbers. Are those their own numbers they say over and over hopimg someone gets a copy on them or are they calling out numbers of people they want to contact?
If i want to get above the noise and reach out for a contact, do i just call out my own number till someone confirms that they heard me?
I hear and use various "intros". Some folks like to say, "How bout DX Land?", or "How about it Skip Land?", and theres the always traditional "a-u-d-i-o.......a-u-d-i-o...." Or of course if your on Ch6, you just crank your modulation til it sounds distored, next talk so fast that no one can understand you followed by your handle. It seems to work well. Oh and some random laughter in a creapy halloween voice followed by your handle is perfecty fine too.
As for me, I prefer the Smokey and the Bandit approach >>>>>> "This is Sherrif Bufford T Justice, I am in pursuit of a Black Trans am, he's all mine so stay out of the way" or "My Handle is Smokey Bear and I am tailgrabbin your **Censored** right now!!!" lol It usually gets a laugh.
Just some ideas.
WHAOOOOO!

on AM im a "how 'bout it skip land, Six hundred twenty-nine around the backwoods of Georgia calling...break break" kinda guy. on SSB im a CQ, CQ, CQ DX this is 629 Northeast Georgia calling CQ DX and standing by.
Channel Six is a unique tounge i am yet to master, but this seems to work...
(listen for a loud station, get their handle or numbers and cling to them dearly)
For instance: "Needlebender"
(key the mic and say loudly and somewhate hard to understand)
"Needlebenda...Hey Needlebenda. Them cotton-pickas out there got my dawg-on ears plugged. But Needlebenda I heard you come on in to the backwoods of Georgia. Needlebenda you cleaning up my receive. Hey Needlebenda you cuttin' their lips off out there now, and i got nobody but you Needlebender in my radio. Needlebenda....Six hundred twenty-nine around the backwoods of Georgia...I just got down."
(unkey)
LOL!
