noisy cobra 25?????

i got a free cobra 25 and it is very noisy like something isnt connected right inside. maybe a ground?? it makes a sound like if the squelch was turned all the way down. very hummy sometimes if i put my hand on the case it will stop.

any ideas???

ground the radio to the chassis.

If you touch the radio and the humming stops its a grounding problem for sure.. Volvo trucks are real bad about this..Try grounding straight to the frame or batt.

I had lots of trouble with my old cobra 25 until I got a good ground on it. I used a good piece of wire and a small radiator hose clamp around the pl259 antenna connector on the back. Worked great! GrayWolf is spot on!
