Any opinions on using a 98VHP as a base

I would like to use this as a base during the winter months when I'm not using it in my dump truck. It would be out in my workshop which is located right next to a woods with the nearest tree about 6 foot away. The roof of the barn is about 15' high and I would like to mount an antenna on top of it. Need opinions on power converters, antennas, grounding, and anything else that I'm too novice to know about. Thanks, OD

It would make a great base! Now as to power supplies...you'll need at least a 30 amp power supply
to fully power that thing on sideband. The antenna should be as high as possible and as far from the
woods as that roof will allow. Also...don't use cheap (rg-58) coax. Use at least RG8x or better yet,
RG8 or 213.
You should have a great time with it!
