6 element black beam pic

Post by 209 first class »

i call it that because i spraypainted it with 2 cans of flat black 8) it was just too shiny and id rather keep it subdued so it cant be seen from the house thru the thin row of trees. besides, it looks kinda evil  i was thinking a deep brown color for the tower. its a maco m106. got a yaesu rotor, lmr cable. digging the hole is the the next part... 30 ft. tower is on the way ! i have wanted somthing like this for 10 years. 209

where's the Pic at 209? Sounds like you're putting together a sweet setup. Wish, I was allowed to, but there's too man darn antenna restrictions for the area.

That's one big beam :) I thought about getting a m106 just to use for 10 meter. Was it hard to put together?

linx, if you have basic tool skills (handy with a screwdriver, measuring tape) its easy. i had put together my 3 element years back, so i had a tiny bit of prior experience. the thing weighs 38 lbs handling it is the only difficulty. all u need is screwdriver/adjustable wrench/pliers to put it together. the hardest part of putting it together is your hands shaking from nervous excitement, that **Censored** is pricless ! the paint worked well, i can barely see it thru the trees, whereas before it was like neon and you couldent help but notice it. i will post more pics as it progresses. 209
