interesting observation concerning antenna height

there is another cb'er about 40 mileas away from me. yesterday he was calling a station in colorado, and i couldent even hear colorado.(colorado didnt answer, but anyhow) he has a 55 foot tower. i just shelled out a bunch of dough for a 30 ft tower (not here yet) and then i was wishing i had spent more for a higher one, and imagined adding a section or two in the future. this morning, we were both on the same channel again, and a station was calling him giving me high numbers and he couldent hear them. just the opposite of yesterday. then i was talking to bermuda, and he couldent hear them. so, after that, i felt better about my setup, and realised you cant have it all. ive read about heights affecting the angle of radiation, but this proves it in actual use. 209

skip does not reflect signals evenly over a area as large as you two are apart . hight is might but wasnt the deciding factor it the instance you just described .
