Bearcat BCT8 not recieving

I have a Bearcat BCT8 scanner its about a year old, it always received really good i had an astatic magnet mount antenna i could hear everything going on, i ended up running through some low power lines i broke the coax that lead to the scanner, i have a brand new antenna another magnet mount and it still don't seem to work properly, so i was wondering if the power lines messed up the receiver, and if anyone knew if it was repairable, the reason i know is because i have a Motorola radio with our marine codes, the police codes, along with our company's radio frequencies in it, and it has no trouble picking up the police codes that are in that radio....

years ago I had a RS scanner that took a voltage spike. That may have happened to your scanner as well hitting the power lines. What happened is that it took out a component in the scanner. It wouldn't power on. I don't recall the exact part that went bad but it was easily fixable by my radio tech. Perhaps a simple component went sour and can be easily repaired. Where to send it? I imagine many of the site sponsors on here also repair scanners too.
