Watch out for "Stroker"
Just a heads up that Shaun Garrity...aka: "Stroker" is not an honest man.
I sold him an amp and got great feedback from him. A month later Paypal
contacted me and took the money he sent me back because he had not used
valid funds to pay me. Of course, I had already spent the money he had sent.
He has not responded to my emails and so he has the amp and I am out the
money he sent.
Avoid doing business with this man. Stroker: If you read this and don't like it,
you should have contacted me and let me know there was a problem with those
funds because they were disputed by whoever you took them from. You complain
bitterly when you feel got a bad deal...and you run for cover when you're the scammer.

Appreciate the support. It's pretty disconcerting to get an email from Paypal
indicating that you may be involved in a "fraudulent" transaction. They won't
tell you anything and then they finally billed me for the money I had been sent.
I got thru to a paypal account manager who said the problem never was between
me and Stroker...but between me and the person the money came from. Apparently
the money used was in dispute between he and the person he took it from. Since
he sent me an "unverified" address, they provide no customer protection and I'm
out the money and the amplifier.
I've been using paypal for nearly 10 years and this is the first time this has ever
happened. Live and learn.

Anyone here know Stroker personally? Maybe lean on him a little to do the right thing and either send the amp back, or send him the $$$, and a bit over that for his hassle...

All i can add is that Preacherman is a top bloke in my books. I purchased his s9 of him and was a real quick transaction and i had it within 2 weeks of purchase and after a tune up i get all good reports. Thumbs up to Preacherman as he is as honest as they come.

excuse my paypal ignorance.. but how can paypal process a payment in the first place if their source of funds is not valid.
Seems to me they shouldn't issue a payment (in the first place) if the source of funds isn't verified.
What was the time laps between when you received the funds, and then paypal pulled it back? just out of curiosity.

About the unverified address thing. Yeah, you do need to be careful about that. BUT... PayPal SHOULD be holding the bag for issuing funds illegitimately, NOT Preacherman. I would say talk to your bank and LOUDLY protest this action from Paypal. Perhaps seek out an attorney and sue for recovery AND legal fees...

You know, you have an awfully good point there.Evan wrote:IMO, I would not take anyone to court over a amp, You could open a can of worms that's not worth it.

Preacherman.
If Stroker gets this straight by you... let us know would ya?
If the guy really was / is in the hospital, you really should cut the guy a little slack. He needs to do the right thing, but might need some time to get things square again...

I agree with you Mentor...although Stroker left posts here on the forum less than a month ago.
Paypal looked into this a month after he got the amp. Deal occured on 8-15
and paypal launched an investigation on 9-16. They told me I was in error because I sent to an
unverified address and so I was out of luck in terms of their "buyer protection" clause. I, for one
would love to see a happy ending to this, since it's been 3 weeks of headaches and as of right now,
I'm out both the money and the amp. Whoever the money came from is someone that
told Paypal they never approved the purchase...and that could have happened while/if he was in
the hospital.

Sadly, Stroker has done nothing to contact me as he promised Bozo he would.
I would strongly caution anyone doing business with Mr. Shaun Garrity of N.J.
to "not" take a Paypal payment from him and further...do not ship until you have
a genuine money order in hand that has already cleared your bank.
Paypal is charging me back on the monies he sent me because he also apparently
gave them bad information. Their whole argument to me is that I shipped to an
"unconfirmed" address, therefore, they are justified in taking the money back. They
are not telling me "whose" money it was in the first place...except that it was not
Stroker's.
Be careful also with Paypal. The fact that I shipped to an unconfirmed address really
has nothing to do with the case because Stroker got the product. They are using it as
a loophole to essentially say: "We have to get the money from someone and at least
we know where you are." They have rec'd the last of my business...which is very short
sighted on their part, since I've paid more than the $230 in question in fees over the years
and would pay more if the would go after the real culprit here instead of taking the easy
way out.
