just wanted to give a shout out to the ra built 2995dx. today was the first day that skip was hot and heavy here in oregon and i finally had a chance to try mine out. am or ssb , no matter, i made contacts on both. above 40, below 40 all but the super bowl, but good ol clarence carter had that plugged. i got back to big strapppers and single side banders. running bare foot swingin to 200 watts. all said your radio is sounding GREAT. this thing is a skip talking fool. my hat off to mike and his crew at radio active.

nice busman,

I'm glad you got to enjoy some conditions. I'm still waiting to catch them. I don't get a chance to hang out on the radio much though. I still don't have an antenna on my truck to monitor when I'm riding around, then I'll know when to get on the base. I see a 2995 in my future, but I just have to get the base antenna situation straightened out here at the house.

well 2ug217, i had a antron 99 , worked pretty good. then i just got a imax 2000. i just put that thing on a 2 peice push up poll on my front porch roof and it works great. it was factory set and reads 1.2 on the swr. it stays there to on 12 and 10 meter. well not those but you know, below ch. 1 and above ch. 40 . i havnt touched it since i put it up. a beam is probably great but to much hassel for me. its a good base antenna for pretty resonable cost.

busman, you didn't have to tune the 2000 to get that swr? I'm trying to figure out what "twig" to get.

Thanks

naw, there factory tuned and there usually pretty close. mine is just a whisker hirer on ch.1 than 40. by far nothing worth clamoring up on the roof and takeing that thing down. imax 2000, pole, coax. plug and play.

Busman,

My IMAX just came last friday and I have it "temporarily" screwed to the trellis on the back porch and it works great! SWRs were flat across. I can't wait to get it permanently mounted a "little" higher.

I'd recommend it to anyone.

John-
I apprecaite the loyal support for sure! You've always been a great customer, and thanks for taking the time out to type up posts about your radio! The SMT circuit boards are some of my favorite to redesign. They are not the easiest, but they are great for sure. Have fun! Keep me posted!!!!!
